The changes in the humanitarian landscape are placing even greater responsibility on our IFRC network, which in some cases may soon stand alone in having access to the people in greatest need of support.   

The IFRC’s Global Plan 2026 addresses the world’s most pressing humanitarian issues and outlines how the IFRC – as a global network of local actors – is evolving to place more resources and expertise closer to its 191 member National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. 

The plan covers the scope of the humanitarian needs and the ambition of the IFRC network to reach and support people facing climate risks, disasters, health crises, displacement and other threats to their safety, security and wellbeing. 

In 2026, the IFRC will intensify its support to National Societies so that the IFRC network can respond at scale. Our locally led community based action will help people all over the world to anticipate, manage and recover from disaster risks, safeguard their health, protect their livelihoods, build their resilience and ensure they have the information and capacities they need to thrive.
